If getting filler makes someone feel more confident, then good for them. Gone are the days when cosmetic work was exclusive to Hollywood's elite. It's now pretty common and fairly accepted within society.
And it turns out it good actually be good for you.
We all know how good it feels to get your hair or nails done so it comes as no surprise to hear cosmetic work has the same effect.
It's obviously a little more intense than just getting a curly blowdry or your BIAB filled, but scientists have claimed it's good for our wellbeing.
According to a study in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, people with Botox also noticed a reduced negative mood.
The team behind the study explained that botulinum toxin A (BTX-A) treatment for frown lines can also be used as a treatment for depression.
"A psychological mechanism for this effect is reviewed in which paralysis of the corrugator (frown) muscles leads to less facial feedback for negative emotions. Consequently, a negative affect is harder to maintain and so the person has a more positive mood," the study reads.
During the study, researchers analysed the moods of patients who had received BTX-A treatment for glabelar frown lines.
They then measured and compared their results with patients who had other cosmetic work.
They discovered that the BTX-A-treated patients showed significantly less negative mood.
"Treatments that prevent frowning correlate with reduced negative mood," they confirmed.
Not only does it boost our confidence and make us feel better in our own skin but treatments like Botox are actually improving our mood too.
There's no doubt women in their twenties and thirties are often judged for getting cosmetic treatments but what harm are they doing if it has such a positive impact on them?
