Add us as a preferred source on Google »Celebrities never fail to look perfect whenever we see them at a premiere, press event, or even when they’re walking through the streets of New York.
They’re like otherworldly beings incapable of having a bad hair day or dressing poorly. They undoubtedly lead to society’s high beauty expectations for women, but they’re also encouraging beauty trends.
Their flawless complexions and wrinkle-free skin leave many of us wondering when we should get Botox and filler rather than considering if its something we should get. There’s no doubt most celebrities get work done, wouldn’t we if the camera was always pointed at us? But is society’s obsession with what work they get done causing more harm than good?
In the video, which was originally shared in 2023, she says: “I literally have no idea what she’s gotten done, and I think she’s been through so much. in her life, especially medically related. I don’t think it’s fair to speculate whether or not she’s gotten cosmetic things done. I don’t know what to attribute any of these changes to.
“When it comes to botox and filler, I do these things when I’m pretty confident I know what someone has gotten done, but when it comes to Selena, I literally have no idea what to attribute,” she said.
In response to the video, Gomez said: “Honestly I hate this. I was on stripes because of a flare-up. I have Botox. That’s it. Leave me alone.”
Do we gain anything from knowing what work Selena Gomez, or any other celebrity, has done? Absolutely not. If that work makes them feel better then good for them. If they want to show off their grey hair and wrinkles on the red carpet then good for them.
Marissa admitted she stopped making these videos after realising that celebrities don’t owe us any explanation when it comes to cosmetic work.
“You don’t owe it to anyone to tell us why you don’t look the same as you did when you were a teenager, or in your 20s… I am sorry if that made you feel any sort of way. I adore you.”
Cosmetic work is something that has been popular for years and likely will be in fifty years time. If getting filler or botox gives somebody more confidence then is there really any harm in that? Whether they’re famous or just a normal girl, doing something that boosts their confidence is surely a good thing, right?
I might get Botox in a couple of years but it’ll solely be to make myself feel good. We get our hair cut and nails painted to boost our confidence so isn’t cosmetic work the same?
Let celebrities get work done, let women age whatever way they want. We’ve followed society’s beauty standards for too long so why shouldn’t we go our own way from here on out?
