In fact, according to a recent survey, adult acne affects around 66 per cent of women in Ireland. It is a problem that is not only frustrating but can really affect self-esteem levels and sometimes even lead to depression. While many anti-blemish products are harsh and drying, Avène's Cleanance Range prides itself on being extremely gentle on the skin, so as not to aggravate sensitive areas while targeting the breakouts. The Beauty Brand Avène is a skincare line that is based on water. Born in a small village in the South of France, the brand was developed for all levels of sensitive skin. At the heart of the brand is the thermal spring water. Its beneficial properties have been soothing and relieving skin conditions for more than two and a half centuries. The Cleanance Expert moisturiser is the latest addition to the range and contains three active ingredients that target these causes. One of these ingredients, Diolenyl, is touted as being able to "outsmart" acne and is the first prodrug (only acting where the skin needs it) ever used in a cosmetic product. Cleanance Expert not only helps to prevent and eliminate spots but it also leaves the skin feeling smooth and the complexion mattified.  We Say: This Her staffer has battled breakouts for years and tried what feels like every product on the face of the earth. While this product certainly does not aggravate or cause breakouts (which is a huge plus), it is not going to be a miracle cure. For those suffering from mild acne, it could well be all you need to manage the problem. Those with more severe cases will be glad to hear that this product can be used alongside topical acne medications and goes a long way to counteract any dryness from harsh treatments. Although the science sounds a bit scary, it is incredibly gentle on the skin and is very easy to use. It has certainly earned its place in this writer's beauty kit, trumping the harsh scrubs and stripping cleansers any day.
