One treatment you must avoid before heading on holiday, especially to somewhere warm and sunny, is a chemical peel.

Many people get chemical peels to improve and smooth the texture of their skin.

A chemical peel will remove the outermost layers of your skin, but getting one done before going to a hot country can damage your skin.

According to consultant dermatologist, Dr Derrick Phillips, getting a chemical peel before you travel is a big no-no.

Dr. Phillips told Cosmopolitan:

"Chemical peels can increase the risk of sun sensitivity as they remove the outer layers of skin, exposing fresh, delicate skin that is more prone to UV damage."

The last thing you want to do is damage your skin in the severe sun and high temperatures.

Exposing your skin to harmful UV rays can lead to issues like scarring, infection, and hyperpigmentation.

Anyone who gets a chemical peel will be advised to minimise their exposure to the sun. You should wear sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher following the beauty treatment.
