Add us as a preferred source on Google »There are far too many incredible books being published by Irish authors at the moment.
The fictional world here is full of phenomenal talent, gripping stories, and addictive reads, but where does one even start?
I've so many books waiting to be read but where should I begin?
Reading more Irish writers is something I've been focusing on in 2024, but there's one book I wish I had read sooner.
This month, I decided to pick up my copy of The Happy Couple by Naoise Dolan because it had been sitting on my bookshelf for far too long.
The novel, which was published last summer, follows the lives of a newly engaged couple Luke and Celine. The recently engaged pair may have marked a momentous milestone, but is their relationship crumbling behind closed doors?
This addictive novel is on its way to becoming my top read of the year and it's down to Nolan's incredible writing and relatable characters.
The evenings are getting darker and our social batteries are dwindling so why not read The Happy Couple this weekend?
You certainly won't regret reading it.
'Meet Celine and Luke--for all intents and purposes the happy couple. Luke (a serial cheater) and Celine (more interested in piano than in domestic life) plan to marry in a year. Archie (the best man) should be moving on from his love for Luke and up the corporate ladder, but he finds himself utterly stuck. Phoebe (the bridesmaid and Celine’s sister) just wants to get to the bottom of Luke’s frequent unexplained disappearances. And Vivian (a wedding guest), as the only one with any emotional distance, observes her friends like ants in a colony. As the wedding approaches and these five lives intersect, each will find themselves looking for a path to their happily ever after--but does it lie at the end of an aisle?'
