There is one book everyone will be talking about this month and that is Emily Henry's rom-com Happy Place. I was hesitant when I first started reading Happy Place because I wasn't a huge fan of Emily Henry's previous book Book Lovers. I was worried it would be too cheesy and romantic, but the author has mastered her craft and created the perfect rom-com. Henry is like the Nora Ephron or Nancy Meyers of the bookish world. She has perfected the recipe for a love story that feels like it belongs in real life rather than a fairytale. The characters, the plot, and the setting are all so perfectly developed and strong in Happy Place. It feels like a cross between When Harry Met Sally and Friends. You've got a friendship group with deep connections and history, but there's also a potential rekindling of romance too. That's what makes Happy Place so exciting. You're constantly left wondering if Harriet and Wyn will end up together. You'll even find yourself asking if you even want them to rekindle their relationship and that's because you don't just love them as a couple but as individual characters. Happy Place is the type of book that draws you in, slowly but surely, but one you won't want to end. It's the book all rom-com fans will be talking about this summer.
