Olivia Wilde responds to backlash after Taylor Swift-Travis Kelce comment

Olivia Wilde has addressed the backlash after commenting on Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's budding relationship.

She reposted a tweet to her Instagram Stories which read: "I wish Taylor Swift was in love with a climate scientist."

Fans of the 'Ready For It' singer quickly picked up on what the 39-year-old had said and claimed she was a 'hypocrite'

According to MailOnline, Olivia finally addressed the backlash as she left a farmer's market in California on Sunday.

Speaking to the paparazzi, the mum-of-two claimed that she never intended for her words to cause any harm. Wilde only wished to highlight how celebrities' personal lives make more headlines than issues of climate change.

"I meant no harm. It's obviously a comment on how much attention gets paid to stupid things," Olivia explained.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce made their first debut as a couple over the weekend. The new couple, who have reportedly been together since July, were spotted holding hands on the streets of New York.

They were also spotted leaving a NYC restaurant on Sunday night.

Swift's new relationship comes after she and actor Joe Alwyn split up.
