We can’t help but laugh at the nickname Prince Phillip has for the Queen

The affectionate nickname Prince Phillip has for the Queen.

Previously, we've heard about the nicknames Kate and William have for each other and what Prince Harry calls Kate but it turns out there's another one and we definitely didn't expect this. Apparently Prince Phillip calls his wife "cabbage" and yes, we're more than a little baffled too. The discovery of the nickname first came to light in 2006 film The Queen when Phillip said "move over, cabbage" as husband and wife were going to bed. Peter Morgan, the film's screenwriter said he made inquiries before including the insider knowledge and received the information from "royal circles".

"I inquired in royal circles and was told on very good authority that that is what the Duke sometimes calls the Queen".

According to Express.co.uk, Robert Lacey, a royal biographer, this is the case with him saying:

"Yes, I've heard that is how he will sometimes refer to her".

As for the origin of the nickname, it's believed to come from a French phrase, none other than "mon petit chou" which translates to "my little cabbage" or my sweetheart, you get the idea. So there you go, an endearing, sweet nickname although we can't help but giggle all the same.
