Keoghan, known for his roles in The Banshees of Inisherin and The Killing of a Sacred Deer, will be a new addition to the already star-studded cast, further elevating the excitement surrounding the film.
The Peaky Blinders film, written by series creator Steven Knight, will reunite Cillian Murphy, Steven Knight, and director Tom Harper, marking an exciting new chapter in the story of Tommy Shelby and his notorious crime family.
Production is slated to begin later this year, with the film being produced in association with BBC Film.
Cillian Murphy, who played Tommy Shelby over six seasons from 2013 to 2022, will reprise his iconic role.
It will be directed by Tom Harper, who previously directed episodes of the show’s first season in 2013.
Knight’s script promises an “explosive chapter” in the Peaky Blinders saga, set once again in the lawless streets of Birmingham in the early 1900s.
The film’s production team includes heavyweights such as Caryn Mandabach, Steven Knight, Cillian Murphy, and Guy Heeley, with Harper, David Kosse, Jamie Glazebrook, Andrew Warren, and David Mason serving as executive producers.
While the plot and additional casting details remain tightly under wraps, the film is already generating buzz as it marks the continuation of the award-winning series.
Fans can expect the same intense drama, complex characters, and rich period setting that made the original series a cultural phenomenon.
Cillian Murphy, whose portrayal of Tommy Shelby has become iconic, said: “It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me… It is very gratifying to be recollaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of Peaky Blinders. This is one for the fans.”
As production gears up, fans eagerly await more details about the plot and how Barry Keoghan’s character will fit into the Shelby family’s turbulent world.
