The film is said to be in early developmental stages and Damian Shannon and Mark Swift have been tasked with penning the comedy-adventure. Aladdin is originally an Arabic folk tale which features in The Book of One Thousand and One Nights, also known as The Arabian Nights.
The tale was adapted for screen by Disney in 1992 with the late, great Robin Williams voicing the genie in one of his most memorable roles. As yet, there are no details on who will take on the role for the forthcoming film.
