Serena Williams reveals sweet secret behind her daughter’s name

Serena Williams has shared the adorable secret meaning behind her daughter’s name.

The tennis champion and her Reddit co-founder fiancé Alexis  Ohanian welcomed their first child together on September 1.

And now the proud mum has revealed there was a more to her daughter’s name, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr., than meets the eye.

The 36-year-old admitted that her daughter’s initials A.O. were no accident, after she won her 23rd grand slam at the Australian Open while pregnant in January.

She wrote on Twitter:

"I'm having a hard time posting about anything that does not involve Alexis Olympia or something to do with her.

"Fun fact: My daughter's initials are AO as in the Aussie Open she won with me."

"It has been said I don't belong in Women's sports -- that I belong in Men's -- because I look stronger than many other women do. "I'm not sure how you did not go off on every single reporter, person, announcer and quite frankly, hater, who was too ignorant to understand the power of a black woman."

She also praised her mum's "class", writing, "I only wish I could take your lead. I am trying, though, and God is not done with me yet. I have a LONG way to go, but thank you." Serena added:

"Thank you for being the role model I needed to endure all the hardships that I now regard as a challenges--ones that I enjoy. "I hope to teach my baby Alexis Olympia the same, and have the same fortitude you have had."
