According to Vocativ, the most popular form of contraception is actually sterilisation.
In a report carried out by the United Nations, sterilisation was used by 19% of women, followed by an IUD, a small device that is entered into the uterus, which is used by 14% of the world's women.
After the main two contraceptives, it was found that the birth control pill was used by 9% followed by the male condom by 8%.
Lastly, 6% of the world's women use withdrawal and 5% of women use contraceptive injections as contraception.
