5 great camping holiday spots in Ireland, from beach sites to adventure parks

Planning a camping trip this summer?

Over the last couple of years, camping has become increasingly popular as a choice for family holidays, girly getaways, and couples retreats. Whether it's camping in Ireland or camping abroad (post-Covid), more and more Irish people seem to be choosing to pitch a tent rather than book a room. So, here's five spots around Ireland that would be perfect for an adventure heavy getaway, or simply somewhere decent for families.

1. IOAC | Outdoor Adventure Centre & Scouting Experience - Wexford

IOAC in Wexford is a great camp site very close to Rosslare. Nearby attractions include Hook Lighthouse, Secret Valley Wildlife Park, Wells House Fairy Trail, the Seal Rescue Centre and Pirates Cove.

2. Hidden Valley  - Wicklow

Hidden Valley is always highly recommended by parents in particular, it as it's reasonably priced and great has facilities on site, with lots to do nearby Facilities include paddle boating, laser tag, an outdoor adventure park, fishing, cinema nights and much more.

3. Parson Green - Tipperary

Parsons Green is a great shout as it has an open farm on the grounds of the campsite itself. This site also has some fantastic heritage sites nearby including Mitchelstown Cave and the Rock of Cashel.

4. Curraghchase Caravan and Camping - Limerick

Curraghchase Caravan and Camping is nestled in the grounds of the 774 Acre Curraghchase Forest Park, surrounded by lovely scenery. ​ Between hiking through the forest, exploring Curraghchase by bike, and chilling by the lake, there's plenty of things to do.

5. Clifden Eco Beach Campsite - Galway

Clifden Campsite is ideally situated on the shores of the Wild Atlantic Way. One of Ireland's only beach camp sites Clifden is also close to the Twelve Bens mountain range which forms part of the Connemara National Park. It's also an Eco Beach site - ideal for the sustainably inclined among us.
