Several snow warnings have been issued for this weekend, impacting 15 counties in Ireland.
Met Éireann has published a Status Yellow snow-ice warning for Donegal, which is set to be valid from 8pm on Friday (2 January) until 11am on Saturday.
It reads: “Wintry showers with some snow accumulations.
“Possible impacts: Hazardous Travel conditions, poor visibility.”
Two other Status Yellow snow-ice warnings have also been issued by Met Éireann, affecting the province of Connacht, as well as the counties of Cavan, Donegal, Louth and Monaghan.
The first is scheduled for between 6pm on Saturday and 11am on Sunday, while the second is for 6pm on Sunday until 11am on Monday.
Both read: “Wintry showers with some snow accumulations. Sharp or severe frost and ice also.
“Possible impacts: Hazardous Travel conditions, poor visibility.”
Similarly, the UK Met Office has issued two Yellow snow and ice warnings for Northern Ireland this weekend.
The first applies to all of Northern Ireland’s six counties and is set to last from 3pm on Friday until 12pm (midday) on Saturday.
The second is for five NI counties, excluding Fermanagh, and is scheduled for between midday on Saturday and midday on Monday.
On top of all this, Met Éireann has put out two Status Yellow low temperature/ice warnings.
Both apply to the province of Munster, along with the counties Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Wexford and Wicklow.
The first is valid from 6pm on Saturday until 11am on Sunday, while the second is for between 6pm on Sunday and 11am on Monday.
Both read: “Temperatures falling to between -2 and -4 degrees in many areas.
“Sharp or severe frost and icy stretches. Possible Impacts: Hazardous travel conditions.”
