A fresh weather warning has been issued for 13 counties ahead of this weekend. The status yellow wind warning has been Dublin, Louth, Wexford, Wicklow, Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Waterford. It will come into effect at 8pm on Saturday, January 26 and will last until 9am the following morning. A Met Éireann forecaster said:

"A period of strong and blustery northwest winds will develop later Saturday, starting along the Atlantic Seaboard and extending to other coastal counties overnight. "High seas expected also. "Northwest winds, mean speeds 55 to 65 km/h, giving gusts between 90 and 110 km/h. The strongest of the winds will be in exposed coastal locations, where winds may temporarily exceed these values."

As for the rest of the forecast, Met Éireann have said that Saturday will be a "cold, windy day" with widespread rain in the morning turning persistent in some places. There will be more showers in the afternoon, with a couple of bright and brief sunny spells. The rainfall with be the heaviest and most frequent in the western part of the country, where there is a risk of hail and thunder. The day will start off mild, before turning cooler, with the highest afternoon temperatures reaching 6C to 8C. Sunday will start off windy, with "ongoing strong and gusty" northwest winds. While most places are forecast to be "dry with sunny spells", there will be some showers affecting Atlantic coastal areas. Afternoon temperatures will reach 5C to 8C with an added wind chill.
