A fresh weather warning has been issued for 18 counties

Met Éireann have issued a fresh weather warning for 18 counties. The status yellow rain warning was issued for Munster and Leisnter, and is due to come into effect at 6am on Sunday, March 3. It will end at 6pm on Sunday night. Cork, Clare, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, Waterford, Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Wexford and Wicklow will experience "heavy rain" during the day which will "give accumulations of 25 to 35 mm." Looking a the rest of the forecast for Sunday, Met Éireann are forecasting a "cold and wet day" for most of the country. They said:

"Rain will develop along southern coasts then push northwards, and become widespread. The rain will turn heavy in the afternoon and possibly turn wintry later as well, with some snow over the hills and mountains. "Light winds in the morning will become fresh to strong from a variable direction later as the centre of Storm Freya tracks eastwards over Munster. The strongest winds from Storm Freya will be off the south and east coast of the country. "Temperatures of 6C to 8C in the morning will fall to 1C to 5C in the afternoon."

Most places will be dry on Sunday night. And while the skies are forecast to be clear, it is going to be a lot colder than it's been lately. Met Éireann forecasters say the temperatures will drop to between 0 and 1C overnight, which will lead to a widespread frost. It comes as a separate weather warning was issued for Galway, Mayo and Donegal. The Status Yellow warning came into place at 8am this morning and will be valid until 3am on Sunday morning. Gusts are forecast to reach up to 90kph and 100kph, with coastal areas worst affected.
