Zaytoon, the beloved Dublin-based chain of Persian restaurants specialising in kebabs, has announced the closure of one of its most famous locations.
In a statement posted to social media, the food business revealed that its branch located on Camden Street in Dublin City Centre will be shutting its doors on Monday, 2 February.
Zaytoon said the decision was made due to “rising costs and increasing pressures” within the sector.
The chain was founded by Jamshid Kamvar and Azad Shirazi in 2000. Their goal was to “shift perceptions” regarding “the humble kebab”, a “mainstay of Persian cuisine”.
“By insisting on quality and freshness, they succeeded in elevating the dish from ‘after pub fare’, offering a nutritious product and reproducing the vibrant, exotic flavours of their Iranian homeland,” a statement on Zaytoon’s website reads.
Their first location was in Parliament Street in Dublin City’s Temple Bar area, with the Camden Street branch following in 2005.
Confirming the Camden Street spot’s closure, Zaytoon assured its followers that its other branches will remain open.
You can read the kebab chain’s statement in full below:
“Dear valued customers, due to rising costs and increasing pressures within our sector, we have made the decision to close our Camden Street branch.
“Camden St: Closing on 02/02/2026
“We are truly grateful for your loyalty and continued support over the years. While this location will soon close, we are pleased to continue welcoming and serving you at our other branches:
- “Parliament Street, Dublin 2,
- “Beacon South Quarter, Sandyford, Dublin 18
- “Swords Pavilions, Co Dublin
“Thank you for being part of our journey and for your continued loyalty. We look forward to seeing you soon at any of our other locations.”
