The dad-of-two has been subject to cruel trolling for years, especially on forums like Tattle Life, but has bravely spoken out about the damage trolling can cause.
Dowling is now asking for trolls and Tattle Life users to contact him so he can have a real conversation with them because he wants to understand more.
On Instagram, the presenter said:
"I’m inviting anyone who has written negative things about me to meet and have an honest, face-to-face conversation.
"If you’ve engaged with content on sites like Tattle Life, I’d like to understand what drew you to it. This isn’t about shaming anyone; I just want to have an open discussion," he added.
Dowling stressed, "If you’re interested in talking with me, please comment below or send me a DM. Thank you very much."
His followers have often praised him for calling out trolls and for raising so much awareness about the true dangers of trolling, especially the concerning level of trolling Dowling faces on a daily basis.
Dowling explained why he wants to do this: "I really want to understand why people do this, so I’m asking anyone who has written anything negative about me to come and meet me and let’s have a conversation face-to-face."
"This isn’t about naming and shaming, I really want to sit down and have an open and very honest conversation," he said.
