Weather predictions say Ireland could be hit by a storm on Saturday.

We've all been basking in the relative warmth of the last few days, Ireland experiencing seventeen degrees in February is not be sniffed at. However, it's not quite time for iced coffees and sunbathing in the park for the weather is about to take a turn with a storm on the horizon for Saturday. Four seasons in one week, it really is possible in Ireland. Met Éireann has shared predictions for Saturday's forecast and it isn't exactly what we were hoping for with hail and thunders showers replacing the sunshine we've become accustomed to.

"Windy or possibly stormy for a time in the northwest. Widespread heavy rain will give way in many areas to sunny spells and scattered squally showers. However the showers are likely to be prolonged and heavy in parts of the north and northwest with some hail and local thundery".

The northwest of the country is likely to see the worst of this weather with "strong to galeforce winds" and heavy rain. Alan O'Reilly of Carlow Weather echoes this prediction, saying a storm on Saturday is possible but it's too early to tell.

There's a chance of frost overnight and there will be fog in places too. Sunday is more of the same with "heavy rain" forecast for many areas and the possibility of sleet. It's also set to become very windy on Sunday night with the risk of gales in southern areas. At the moment, the outlook for next week is "cool and unsettled weather expected with some night frosts" but we all know how unsettled Irish weather is and these predictions are subject to change.
