He replied: “I can’t comment on details of the investigation.”
The host then added: “But you can’t deny it, can you?”
He responded: “I don’t want to deny it,” before adding that he couldn't speak about it as “the suspect has not yet been informed.”
Christian B has denied involvement in her disappearance and claims he was miles away at the time the toddler was taken.
Police are currently searching for forensic evidence that can link him to the case.
Prosecutors in Portugal last week officially declared a formal suspect in the ongoing case and he is understood to be an unnamed German man.
According to BBC News, Portuguese officials referred to the individual as an "arguido" – which translates as 'named suspect' or 'person of interest' – while acting on the request of German authorities.
In 2020, 44-year-old Christian Brueckner, or Christian B, was named as the prime suspect in the case looking into McCann's 2007 disappearance, with German prosecutors reportedly "100% convinced" he is the man responsible.
