Dunnes Stores has issued a major recall over a €2 baby item due to "risk of injury" fears.
According to the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCP), over 4,110 unsafe baby mittens have been recalled from Dunnes Stores since last week.
The recall involved 2 Pack Baby Boys and Girls Mittens, which safety bosses have warned risk "injuries".
Specifically, Irish parents should be aware that long threads from the mittens could wrap around the baby's finger, which could cause swelling and a lack of function.
The CCP said: "Dunnes Stores Unlimited Company is carrying out a recall of 2-Pack Baby Boys and Girls Mittens.
"The risk presented by the product is injuries.
"While wearing the product, long threads from the product may wrap around the baby’s finger, causing swelling and a lack of function."
It is believed there are about 4,110 affected products in the Republic of Ireland.
Parents have been warned to stop using the product and keep it out of reach of children.
Shoppers are now able to return the product to a Dunnes store for a full refund.
Dunnes Stores has since also issued a notice on their website, claiming a safety issue had been identified regarding the two-pack of Baby Girls Mittens.
The affected products are as follows:
Dunnes said: "Due to the presence of long threads, there is a risk of injury to finger leading to a loss of function.
"We are issuing a product recall notice in respect of this product.
"This product was sold in Dunnes Stores outlets and online on www.dunnesstores.com.
"You can return the product to your local store for a full refund. If you have any further queries in relation to this recall, please email us at [email protected].
