Halloween is just around the corner and every house in our neighbourhood is being donned in spiderwebs, pumpkins, and ghoulish characters.
Halloween is one of our favourite times of the year, but decorating for the holiday now takes as much effort as Christmas.
The house may look incredible, but one decoration is causing more harm than good.
According to Lane Cove Council, the fake spider webs can be extremely harmful to animals.
Animals like birds, insects, and other small animals can get trapped in the webs, making it extremely distressing for them.
Lane Cove Council warned: "Attention ghouls and boys! As we get ready to celebrate the spooky season in Lane Cove, please avoid using synthetic spider webs when decorating your home."
They explained: "It can be very harmful to wildlife, especially birds. Birds often use spider silk to build their nests and cannot tell the difference between real and fake webbing.
"This can result in birds and their young becoming stuck in the webbing. Bats, insects, and other wildlife can also become stuck in this material."
The council suggested reusing old materials like cardboard to create decorations.
Using pumpkins is also another great way to decorate because you can put them in compost.
"If you’re looking for ways to decorate, consider reusing or repurposing items you already have at home. Ideas include cardboard graveyards that can be recycled, or pumpkins that can be put in your compost."
