Add us as a preferred source on Google »The family of the young girl seriously injured in the Parnell Square attack have given an update on life since returning home with their little girl.
In a new update on the family’s GoFundMe page, they said she is “becoming accustomed” to her new routine as they enter their “third week at home”.
They also added that, “Christmas will be special this year” as their daughter spends the holiday at home after over a year in hospital recovering.
“This is our third week at home,” the family said..
Speaking about her progress so far, they wrote: “Our little girl is already used to sleeping in her bed every day, and we have understood how much having a routine helps with her development.
“She is becoming accustomed to being in her stander, playing with her toys, and announcing when something is not okay.”
They said it’s “important for her” to feel that her parents can “understand her sounds and looks”.
“I have managed to put together some activities which are manageable given the home environment.
“Christmas will be special this year.”
At the end of November, the girl’s family confirmed that they were home.
“I got quite emotional on the drive home because we got to bring her home,” the girl’s mother said.
“We have a great amount of homework, and lots of plans.
“She will take a break and enjoy relaxation, which is a key part of recovery.
“2025 comes with great promise.”
The young girl had to remain in Temple Street for 281 days following the devastating attack outside Gaelscoil Choláiste Mhuire on Parnell Square.
The family have been so open about their journey and previously said that they have to “relearn everything” as she continues in her recovery.
Two other young children and a carer were also injured during this attack.
