Add us as a preferred source on Google »Last month, the young girl stabbed in the 2023 Parnell Square attack was finally released from hospital.
Writing on GoFundMe, the girl's family confirmed that they were beginning a 'new chapter'.
A family member wrote: "On Friday, August 30, after 281 days, we were discharged from Temple Street Children’s Hospital. Today we begin a new chapter in our darling’s rehabilitation (or as we call it “The Gym”).
"The hope is that she is able to swallow food, move her arms and legs more purposefully, and utter some more sounds."
Now, the family have shared a new update, writing: "We are now in the 4th week of our 'gym'. This new hospital is really inspiring. We can see changes in our little angel on a daily basis.
"We would like to thank you all for your generosity. The money has come a long way. Over the last months we have had to move to a bigger place with a wheelchair accessible layout, furnish the house thinking about space and functionality, get an adapted car which has enabled us to take our darling home at the weekends, plus daily costs.
"Not having a kitchen to cook meals in does add up. We are hoping to be home full time before Christmas. Thank you."
Earlier in the year, the girl's family spoke out about what happened on that awful day in November, describing it as the day their 'lives were turned upside down'.
They explained: "It started as a normal day (rushing out the door, catching the train, dropping off the child at crèche, running to work).
"At 1.45pm, I got the worst phone call I could ever get: 'Something happened! Your daughter was stabbed in front of the school'.
"I ran over and saw a horrific site. I saw my little girl lying on the ground. Doctors and paramedics trying to get her heart beating and air in her lungs. She was brought back to life by the amazing team at Temple Street Children’s Hospital."
