Add us as a preferred source on Google »Zoe Mills, from Donabate in north County Dublin, became ill at ten-months-old in July last year, with her health deteriorating rapidly.
Zoe was brought to Temple St Hospital for tests and shortly after was diagnosed with stage 4 high-risk neuroblastoma, an extremely aggressive childhood cancer.
The severity of her prognosis meant that Zoe had to start an intense 18 month treatment plan immediately and was transferred to Crumlin hospital that night and began chemotherapy the next day.
In her ongoing battle since, Zoe has gone through blood transfusions, radiation therapy, chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant.
She is now undergoing immunotherapy, which her parents hope will be the final step of her frontline treatment.
Zoe's parents David and Emma have now set up a fundraiser for the next part of Zoe's journey, which is doing everything to prevent her cancer from returning.
Sadly, her disease has a very high relapse rate, but there are Neuroblastoma maintenance therapies that aim to prevent it returning available as clinical trials in the USA.
Zoe's fundraiser is being set up to help with the high costs of the trials, with all money going towards the treatment.
"Thank you for your continued hope and support for Zoe," her parents say.
"We can’t tell you how much of a difference it makes in the most challenging thing any family could face."
Since launching, the fundraiser has raised over €81,000 for Zoe at the time of writing.

A fundraiser has been launched for a 1-year-old girl from Dublin after she received a heartbreaking stage-four cancer diagnosis, leading her to need treatment in the USA.
