The furniture giant has been scouting for locations around the county and has reportedly designated Carrigtwohill in east Cork as a desired location for a new store.
The new location, only Ikea's second full premises in Ireland, would mean up to 500 jobs for the area, reports the Irish Examiner.
We don't yet have a date for when we might be able to visit Ikea in Cork as nothing is thought to be set in stone but negotiations are said to be "advanced" so hopefully we won't have long to wait.
Ikea first landed on these shores in 2009 when it set up shop in Ballymun on the north side of Dublin.
The news of a Cork location comes after Ikea announced that it was launching an online store in Ireland earlier this month.
