The 52-year-old fashion designer and socialite passed away suddenly in her home in Ballsbridge yesterday, Saturday November 8.
The Roscommon native was a leading figure in the Irish fashion scene known for her Parisian inspired, colourful pieces.
An RIP.ie post for the woman reads: "It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Catriona Hanly, Parkowen, Strokestown, Co. Roscommon and Dublin, peacefully on Saturday 8th November 2025.
"Lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her heartbroken family. Beloved daughter of Bertie and Imelda, cherished sister of Alan, Marcus, Enda and Tara, sisters in law Olga, Linda and Sinead, brother in law Neil. Fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews, aunts, uncle, cousins, relatives, neighbours, and a wide circle of friends in Ireland and around the world."
Hanly's designs were worn by numerous celebrities such as Madison McKinley from Wolf Of Wall Street, Yolanda Kettle from The Crown, Laura Whitmore, Vogue Williams, Celia Holman Lee and many more.
She was the daughter of Bertie and Imelda Hanly, who acquired and restored Lough Rynn Castle in Leitrim and Kilronan Castle in Roscommon.
Ms Hanly, who was famed for her Parisian inspired aristocrat pieces, was a leading light on the Irish design scene.
A native of Leitrim, Catriona, was the daughter of Bertie and Imelda Hanly, who acquired and restored the historic Lough Rynn Castle in Co. Leitrim and Kilronan Castle in Co. Roscommon.
The fashionista attended the Barbara Bourke College of Fashion and the prestigious St Martin’s College in London.
It wasn't just clothing she had an eye for but interiors having completed a transformation to several rooms in Kilronan Castle, adding a touch of her own individuality to the hotel rooms.
Additionally, she was equally known for her charitable spirit.
Speaking with RSVP in 2021 she revealed: "I have worked with the Rape Crisis Foundation, the Hope Foundation, the Cancer Care West charity, the Pink Ribbon Foundation, the Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation, the Respect Charity Summer Lunch fundraiser and the Breast Cancer Foundation – and I've organised fashion shows to raise money for such worthy causes."
The RIP.ie death notice states that the house will remain private with funeral details to be published at a later time.
