The latest weather report reveals we’re in for a wet and miserable day

If the latest weather report is anything to go by, it's going to be pretty wet and miserable today. We're in for a good bit of rain across the country, but at least the temperatures are rising to hopefully/maybe 9 degrees. According to Met Éireann, "some showers in the west and along the south coast at first this morning with some hazy sunshine in the east.

Further scattered showers across west Ulster, Connacht and west Munster tonight but largely dry elsewhere with long clear spells. Becoming less windy with temperatures falling to between minus 2 and plus 2 degrees allowing frost and ice to form. pic.twitter.com/BIlvYdZoZS

"However, cloud will soon thicken in all areas with showery rain developing in Atlantic coastal counties during the morning. The showery rain will extend gradually eastwards during the afternoon but it looks set to remain mostly dry across east Leinster and east Ulster until evening time. "Maximum temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees in freshening southerly winds." And as for tonight? Well, it'll basically be wet and windy for the most part.

Some shwrs near W & S coasts at first this morn, but mainly dry elsewhere with some hazy sunshine in the E. Rain will develop in Atlantic coastal counties later in the morn & spread E across the country during the aft but it will stay dry in the E until eve. Highs of 6 to 9 deg.

"A wet evening with outbreaks of rain but a clearance in the west will extend eastwards early in the night – with the last of the rain clearing the east coast around midnight. "Clear spells and scattered showers will follow and it will turn colder. Minimum temperatures of 0 to 4 degrees with frost forming by dawn in sheltered spots."
