Met Eireann forecasts big change as country starts to finally heat up for summer

Met Eireann is predicting some major changes to the weather soon as we finally start to see some summer arriving. After a dull and rainy bank holiday weekend, the memo for the summer sun seemed to have gotten delayed as a blast of heat is expected to arrive this weekend. The high-pressure system that is heading for Ireland won't be here for long as the second week of May will see more unsettled conditions, but the sun will come back out by the third week. The national forecaster said that the rest of this week will be "mild or rather warm, but rather mixed before settling down from this weekend.” A week of rain is ahead for most of this week with scattered showers around the country, but as Friday approaches, we will see them begin to disappear as we finally get some sun. The forecaster said regarding Friday's weather: "Any lingering overnight rain will soon clear, and it will brighten up with sunshine and scattered showers following, all in moderate northwest breezes. Highest temperatures of 13 to 19 degrees, best values away from the northwest and west of the country." When it comes to the weekend, it is still too far out to fully tell exactly how it will be, but it's looking to be "fairly pleasant" for Saturday and Sunday. Met Eireann added: "High pressure will make for a fairly pleasant outlook into the coming weekend. It will be mainly dry with sunny spells and just light breezes. Rather warm too. With normal rainfall expected next week but higher than average temperatures, the following will see high pressure returning and drier conditions. They said: "The signal is weaker overall but it suggests that there will be high pressure out to the west with a potential north to northwest airflow bringing in drier than average conditions though some showers will feed into the north and northwest with more normal amounts there. Milder conditions will likely persist in Week 3 as well."
