Met Éireann has just issued a snow-ice warning for the entire country.

As we're all aware, it is absolutely freezing today and it's only going to get colder according to the latest forecast from Met Éireann. The warning reads:

"Very cold this week with scattered wintry showers, frequent across the southwest, west and north. Some accumulations of snow are expected. There will be widespread frost at night with icy stretches on untreated surfaces. There is the possibility of a more significant spell of sleet/snow on Thursday".

This warning is in place from Tuesday 29 January 2019 at 6am to Saturday 02 February 2019 at 6pm. However, the national forecaster has said that this warning will be updated again tomorrow at 10am so keep a close eye on the Met Éireann website.

"On Monday night scattered showers will become confined to Atlantic coastal counties. However, a spell of rain will affect the west and southwest later and become widespread by morning, turning wintry with the risk of some accumulations on higher ground." "Lowest temperatures will be around -1 to +2 degrees with widespread frost. Southwesterly winds will be mostly light to moderate." "Tuesday will be very cold with outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow which will later clear to scattered wintry showers and some sunny spells. Top temperatures will reach just 2 to 6 degrees. Southwesterly winds will veer northwest and freshen." "Tuesday night will be very cold with scattered wintry showers and clear spells. Lowest temperatures will fall to between zero and -3 degrees with a widespread hard frost."
