Met Éireann have issued an updated weather forecast for St Patrick’s Day weekend

We weren't too sure what the expect weather-wise for the Bank Holiday weekend, especially since there were two weather warnings in place as it kicked off. But Met Éireann have now issued an updated weather forecast for the rest of St. Patrick's Day weekend - and it's kind of bleak. Saturday is going to continue to be "wet and blustery", especially for a little while in the east and the south. There are going to be further spells of rain and "strong and gusty west to southwest winds". According to weather forecasters, the rain is going to clear early afternoon before the weather gets drier and brighter - with sunshine and scattered showers coming from the west. The showers will be a mix of rain, hail and sleet with some snow later on higher ground. Afternoon temperatures will range 3C to 5C in Ulster and 6C to 9C elsewhere. Saturday night will be "cold with a mix of clear spells and scattered showers", which will mainly be a mix of rain, hail and sleet but some of snow especially in parts of Ulster, Connacht and Munster. However, it will be with limited accumulations. A few showers will possibly be heavy with the risk of thunder. Lowest temperatures between -1C and +3C, with some frost and a risk of icy roads. St. Patrick's Day will be a rather cold day, according to Met Éireann, with bright or sunny spells and a few scattered showers. The showers will become more widespread in the afternoon with a few turning heavy especially in parts of Connacht and Munster. Highest temperatures will be between 7C and 9C. The rainfall will move to Atlantic coastal areas on Sunday night, with good clear spells developing. Later,  cloud will increase again in the west with some light rain there by dawn. Lowest temperatures of 2C to 5C. Met Éireann have forecast that Monday will start dry and bright in the east but cloud and rain will spread from the west during the morning. The rain will be mostly light though with good dry spells as well. Highest temperatures of 8C to 11C in moderate westerly winds. It will stay mostly cloudy overnight with a few spots of rain or drizzle. Lows of 4C to 7C.
