The spokesperson added:
"Parts of Ulster will start out dry and bright, though. Heavy rain in the south will push slowly northwards over the country during the afternoon and evening, giving rise to spot flooding in places, with a risk of thundery downpours, especially towards evening. "Feeling humid, with highs of 15C to 19C, all in moderate southeasterly breezes."They added that it will start to become "very warm and increasingly humid" next week, with temperatures hitting in the 20s. The Met Éireann spokesperson continued:
"There will be some good spells of sunshine at times, but also some heavy and thundery rain or showers, with sea mist and fog in places too. "Conditions are conducive to the spread of potato blight."
