Met Éireann issues fresh thunderstorm warning for 13 counties

It comes as temperatures could reach as high as 27 degrees on Thursday.

As Ireland's heatwave continues, Met Éireann has issued another Status Yellow thunderstorm warning for 13 counties. The latest alert will take effect between 3pm to 9pm on Thursday (15 June). It applies to the province of Connacht, as well as the counties Clare, Donegal, Laois, Limerick, Longford, Offaly, Tipperary and Westmeath. "Localised showers with heavy downpours, thunderstorms, gusty winds and a chance of hail," the warning reads. Met Éireann also added that possible impacts of the weather conditions include "localised flooding" and "difficult travelling conditions".

The Irish meteorological service's current forecast says that Thursday will see a mix of sunny spells with showers and thunderstorms. This is as highest temperatures will generally range from 22 to 27 degrees generally, though sea breezes will keep coastal areas slightly cooler. As for the following days, Met Éireann's outlook reads: "Quite warm with further showers, some heavy and possibly thundery." By Stephen Porzio.
