Met Éireann warn of another big freeze as temperatures continue to drop

Met Éireann have warned that Ireland is in for another cold few days, with frost, ice and even possible snow showers in the forecast. With the occasional bit of sunshine, too. Thursday will be mostly cloudy, with light rain and drizzle, and temperatures hitting between 6C and 9C. But things will begin to turn tonight, with the arrival of some more wintry conditions. Friday will be another cloudy and mostly dry day, with some drizzle in the souther and western coastal countries. Temperatures will range between 5C and 8C, the coldest in the east and north. Met Éireann forecasters warn that the high pressure of Scandinavia will continue to influence the weather, with mostly dry conditions at first - but soon becoming very cold with wintry showers. Meanwhile, temperatures will reach around -1C to 2C in the east and north with some frost on Friday - but it will be less cold further south and west, with minimum temperatures around 3C and 4C. And Saturday will have some good sunny spells develop in the east and north during the day - as well as some hazy sunshine in the southwest and west later. Top temperatures of just 4C to 6C degrees in the east and north, but reaching 7C or 8C degrees further west. It will be dry with good clear spells, before turning colder under clear skies with lowest temperatures falling to between -2C and 2C and a widespread frost. Sunday will be dry and sunny day but it looks like another cold day is on the cards, wither top temperatures between 4C to 7C. Sunday night will be dry and clear, turning even colder with a widespread sharp to severe frost. A Met Éireann forecaster warned that it will be "very cold for this time of year" as next week begins, with temperatures in the low single figures.
