Mum found dead after man finds her daughter playing in snow alone

A mum was found dead at her home after a man found her four-year-old daughter playing outside in the snow alone.

The little girl called out to Marcus King, who was passing by the playground, and the chance encounter led cops in Utah to the heartbreaking scene. He had been on his way to play basketball when the little girl first got his attention. Mr King grew worried when he realise that the girl wasn't dressed properly for the freezing temperatures - and that she wasn't with an adult. He told Fox News 13:

“I had heard a little girl’s voice inside the park, didn't really think nothing of it... once I came around this way she had got my attention. “She didn’t have any jacket, no shoes, no parental supervision, and just took action then and took her inside."

He brought her to a community centre where the toddler revealed that her mum, 41, was "on the floor sleeping". Officers sadly found the mum dead inside of the apartment they shared in Ogden, Utah. Police Lt Tim Scott told the outlet that the mum may have passed away due to a pre-existing medical condition. They also believe that the girl's mother died nearly 24 hours before she was found at the playground across from their home. News4Utah report that the girl is now in her grandmother's care.
