According to CNN, background checks on private sales of guns will become stricter and the government is to provide more state funding for mental health treatment, and more FBI staff.
Obama stated: 'These are not only recommendations that are well within my legal authority and the executive branch,but they are also ones that the overwhelming majority of the American people, including gun owners, support and believe in.'
Many opponents are angry that access to guns will be limited, with Donald Trump saying: 'It's another step in the way of not getting guns.'
The full regulations will be announced later today.
