Add us as a preferred source on Google »Leonard's Corner, the popular Dublin pub that has been open for almost 25 years, has announced it is closing.
Located on the South Circular Road and beloved by many for its pints and sandwiches, its owners Gerry and Phil said in a social media statement this week that the time had come to "pass the reins" of their "pride and joy" to other hands.
They also thanked their customers and employees for their support over the past two-and-a-half decades.
"We have had the best journey and enjoyed every minute of time with you all," their statement reads.
"To all our loyal customers, you made Leonard’s Corner a very special place and we want to thank each and every one of you, as without you, it wouldn’t have been the same.
"We have to say a massive thank you to our wonderful staff. It has been a huge pleasure to work with you and we wish you all the very best for the future.
"We have developed a great relationship, and we are very grateful for all you have done. It hasn’t been an easy decision to move on, but we feel it is the right time. It is now our turn to have our adventures.
"We will always think fondly of our time in Leonard’s Corner with all our wonderful staff and customers. We wish everyone well and again, a big thank you to you all. It is not goodbye, but see you later."
The news comes as Dillinger’s, the very popular restaurant based in Dublin suburb Ranelagh, announced earlier this month that it will be closing its doors “after 15 amazing years”.
Meanwhile, the also hugely popular Dublin restaurant Shanahan’s on the Green revealed recently it is shutting its doors until further notice due to financial challenges.
