Raffaele Sollecito’s controversial comment about murder hasn’t gone down well online

Raffaele Sollecito has sparked controversy online after he made comments about murder.

The Italian, along with his former girlfriend Amanda Knox, were cleared of killing British student Meredith Kercher in March 2015. Meredith was found dead in the apartment she shared with Amanda while on an exchange in 2007. Amanda and Raffaele have always claimed they are innocent but spent four years in prison until they were acquitted. Now, nearly two years since he was freed, Raffaele has made some questionable comments online about murder. People have jumped to the conclusion that they were linked to Meredith's murder. The discussion began on a closed Facebook group which The Mirror says was about how to get away with murder. Raffaele posted a comment saying, "It's easy: s*** on it and nobody will come near [the scene]!" This has particularly caused controversy because faeces were found in the toilet at Meredith's murder scene. Italian media first reported the story which prompted Raffaele to respond saying that he would "never drag her [Meredith] into it” and that he was just playing the "game of these groups". He also added:

"I never mentioned Meredith in the comments and I never drag her into it, it doesn’t seem at all pleasant to do so. I have my limits in my jokes. "Mine was a stupid answer to a stupid question, it is simply the game of these groups."
