Add us as a preferred source on Google »Sophie Habboo has opened up about her "scary" birth experience of her and Jamie Laing's son Ziggy, admitting she has little memory of the experience.
Former Made In Chelsea stars Sophie Habboo and Jamie Laing welcomed their first child last December while documenting their journey into first-time parenthood in a new Disney+ series titled Raising Chelsea.
At the premiere of Raising Chelsea, arriving on the streaming platform on April 2nd, Sophie shared details of her emergency c-section, admitting her labour didn’t “go to plan”.
“It’s really full-on, but I think birth for everyone is so full-on,” Sophie admitted.
“It’s magical and amazing, but it’s crazy, and it often doesn’t go to plan.
“But it was scary. It was unexpected, and it happened really quickly, and I don’t remember much. But he’s here, and they [the hospital staff] were amazing, and it all ended up fine.”
Jamie interjected: “And doctors and midwives, they are good at their job."
The couple then recalled how their doctor 'rolled in' to their room, listening to music.
“I was really crying a lot,” Jamie recalled.
“And one of the midwives came and said, ‘Are you all right?’ And then she went, ‘Oh, it’s your first’. And I was like, ‘What do you mean?’ And she said, ‘By the second, you’ll be fine!”
“It was really intense, like within 15 minutes of them saying you’re gonna have an emergency C-section, Ziggy was in her arms. It was that quick. It was crazy.”
Jamie and Sophie’s new Disney+ series, Raising Chelsea, premieres on April 2. This intimate three-part series will follow the former Made in Chelsea stars as they navigate the messy, daunting, and often hilarious reality of becoming parents.
The pair tied the knot back in 2023 and announced that they were expecting their first child together last June.
Then, on December 4, Jaimie and Sophie shared the joyful news on Instagram that their baby boy, Ziggy, had safely arrived.
Captioning the post, they wrote: “Ziggy, you have our whole hearts.”
Since leaving Made In Chelsea, Jaimie and Sophie have built a thriving career together, from hosting red carpet events like the Brit Awards to launching their podcast series NearlyWeds, along with its follow-ups, NewlyWeds and NearlyParents.
Sophie also joined Jamie as a presenter on his BBC Radio 1 show when his co-presenter, Vick Hope, went on maternity leave.
Jamie also hosts his own podcast series, Great Company with Jamie Laing, and is the co-founder of gourmet sweet company, Candy Kittens.
