Taylor Swift broke down in tears during her new documentary, End of an Era, as she spoke publicly for the first time about the Southport attack.
In July 2024, three young girls were killed during an attack at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport.
Swift met with the survivors and their families backstage at Wembley before one of her Eras Tour shows, and broke down in tears after.
"I know it doesn't seem like it, but I know you helped them," her mother, Andrea, says as she comforts Swift.
Speaking to media ahead of the premiere of her new documentary, Swift says she wanted to "create some form of escape" for her fans.
"From a mental standpoint, I do live in a reality that's unreal a lot of the time," she says in the first episode.
"But I need to be able to handle all the feelings and then perk up and perform."
The Wembley shows came after Swift had been forced to cancel her Vienna shows after the CIA uncovered a terrorism threat.
She said they narrowly "dodged a massacre situation", adding that after 20 years as a performer, "being afraid that something is going to happen to your fans is new".
In the documentary, Swift can be seen on the phone to her fiance Travis Kelce saying: "I was so happy - I thought I was going to forget how to play guitar and sing."
Swift's Eras Tour broke records across the globe, becoming the highest-grossing tour of all time, creating $2 billion in revenue.
