The permits are provided as part of 2018's International Experience Canada initiative, a reciprocal program between Canada and more than 30 countries which allows young people to live and work abroad.
The IEC participation fees have risen to $150 CDN (€101) for 2018 and the program opened for all participating countries on November 3.
Up until 2015, the visas were issued on a first-come, first-serve basis.
But changes introduced the following year meant that applicants could submit their profile at their own pace, and candidates would be asked to complete their application at random.
The same system, which applies to all three categories of permits, is being used for 2018.
Hopefuls will be required to create the profile, before being accepted into a pool of possible candidates.
Some people who are deemed eligible will be invited to apply for the work permit in draws that will take place in "regular intervals".Gluten-Free or Gut-End?
