Add us as a preferred source on Google »Several Status Yellow thunderstorm warnings have been issued by Met Éireann and the UK Met Office, impacting 28 counties.
The first of the alerts is from Met Éireann and applies to Cork and Waterford from 10 pm on Wednesday, June 11th, until 3 am on Thursday.
It reads: "Heavy showers with localised thunderstorms: Possible impacts: Lightning damage, spot flooding."
On top of this, Met Éireann published two other warnings.
One applies to the province of Leinster, as well as the counties Tipperary and Waterford. It is scheduled to take effect from 12 pm to 2 pm on Thursday.
The other is for Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Monaghan, Roscommon, and Sligo. It is set to last from 7 am to 5 pm the same day.
Both alerts read: "Heavy showers with scattered thunderstorms.
"Possible impacts: Poor visibility and difficult travel conditions, localised flooding, lightning damage."
Meanwhile, the UK Met Office has issued a Yellow warning to all of Northern Ireland from 6 am to 9 pm on Thursday.
It states: "Heavy rain and thunderstorms will move northwards across Northern Ireland during Thursday and may lead to some disruption in places."
Met Éireann's national forecast states that scattered thunderstorms are expected on Friday and could break out on Saturday.
Its overview for the next few days reads: "Humid with heavy showers or longer spells of rain, along with embedded thunderstorms."
