Turkey's civil aviation authority set the measure in place to hopefully avoid a stampede towards the plane's exit before the aircraft is completely stationary.
Passengers must stay seated after the plane has landed and while it taxis to the terminal, even after the seatbelt sign is switched off.
On the topic, a flight attendant also mentions that you shouldn't clap after the plane has landed. Barbara Bacilieri goes on to explain in her TikTok video: "Although some passengers applaud upon landing, I don't recommend it."
The flight attendant suggests complications such as brake failure, sudden reverse thruster action, or tyres popping after landing for reasons to not clap upon landing.
Gemma Brown from Travel Republic also voiced her opinion, explaining: "When the plane lands, avoid clapping as it can appear rude to the pilots, as though you're undermining their skill.
"If you want to show some love for a job well done, you can show your appreciation at the end of the flight with a polite thank you. The pilot and crew will usually wait at the exit giving you an opportunity to show your gratitude."
It's important to always wait until your row is called or the rows before you have exited before leaving the plane to help avoid a rush.
