An adult woman, believed to be the girl's mother, was also found unconscious at the scene.
They were both rushed to University Hospital Limerick on September 29th. The girl was later transferred to a hospital in Dublin, where she underwent emergency surgery.
A spokesman at Ennis Garda Station told The Journal that the young girl is improving.
"The child is out of danger. Her condition is improving.
He added, "She is still in Crumlin and will be for the foreseeable future.”
The girl's mother is also improving slowly.
He also said the investigation is continuing.
