8-year-old Ukrainian girl stabbed in Clare ‘out of danger’

The young girl suffered over 70 stab wounds at a house in Co. Clare.

An 8-year-old Ukrainian girl who was stabbed multiple times in Co. Clare is "out of danger". According to The Journal, the young girl is no longer in a critical condition, but she remains in the hospital. She is currently receiving treatment at Crumlin Children's Hospital. The young girl underwent surgery at the hospital last week after sustaining multiple stab wounds. The young girl was found unconscious at accommodation for refugees in Clarecastle, Co. Clare. She suffered over 70 stab wounds. An adult woman, believed to be the girl's mother, was also found unconscious at the scene. They were both rushed to University Hospital Limerick on September 29th. The girl was later transferred to a hospital in Dublin, where she underwent emergency surgery. A spokesman at Ennis Garda Station told The Journal that the young girl is improving. "The child is out of danger. Her condition is improving. He added, "She is still in Crumlin and will be for the foreseeable future.” The girl's mother is also improving slowly. He also said the investigation is continuing. "We have a number of lines of inquiry to exhaust yet.”
