Add us as a preferred source on Google »The 18-year mystery of Madeleine McCann's disappearance seems to have taken yet another twist.
It's well documented - even Netflix released a series based on the case back in 2019 - that McCann was almost certainly taken from her family's Portuguese holiday apartment in the May of 2007, and now according to The Sun, new evidence has emerged suggesting long-time suspect Christian Brueckner killed her.
There has been a major update in the case of Madeleine McCann after German police discovered horrifying evidence that suggests she is dead.
A hard drive of images previously found on the suspect's computer could also be key in bringing Brueckner down, as they show him at a point of interest for those who have been investigating the case for the best part of two decades.
German investigators have kept the exact content of the hard drive secret, but it is believed to contain evidence that McCann is dead, and some of it is expected to be revealed for the first time tonight in a documentary, according to the Mirror.
Brueckner also reportedly had a crash at the festival, and cops tracked down his insurance claim from then, which proves for the first time that he was there in April 2008.
The hard drive also included disturbing stories written by Brueckner in which he voiced his obsession with snatching children, with the written pieces including instances where he drugs a mum and her daughter outside a pre-school, while he also abuses a young blonde girl aged four.

The British girl went missing while on holiday in Portugal with her family in 2007, and 18 years later, the case remains one of the most discussed in history. After nearly two decades, the mystery has left most people stumped, but a raid on long-time suspect Christian Brueckner's bolthole by German police led to some horrifying finds which provide significant evidence to suggest that Maddie, who would now be 21, is sadly dead.
Brueckner was first confirmed to be under investigation back in 2020 and is currently behind bars for the 2005 rape of an American woman in Praia da Luz, Portugal. However, he was acquitted of all of these claims last year and could be released as early as September 2025, unless prosecutors are able to prove that he is the man who killed Madeleine all those years ago.
As per The Sun, masks, unlicensed guns and ammunition, children’s toys, and bikes were found at his hideaway, despite him having no children himself, while as many as 75 children's swimming costumes were also discovered. Pictures also clearly show him at the Arade Dam, which is around 35 miles from where Maddie first went missing in Praia De Luz, while police are also finally able to prove that he was at a festival where it was alleged that he told a friend Madeleine 'did not scream'.
Speaking on Aussie TV, German prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters said back in 2020, as per the Sun: "We have strong evidence that Madeleine McCann is dead and that our suspect killed her. We don't have the body and no parts of the body, but we have enough evidence to say our suspect killed Madeleine McCann."
