Weather advisory issued for Electric Picnic weekend over “wet and windy” conditions

Electric Picnic revelers, be prepared.

We hate to be the bearer of bad news for the thousands heading to Electric Picnic for the weekend but alas, we felt obligated to warn you. Met Éireann has issued an advisory, which will take effect from 7pm on Friday to 7pm on Monday over "wet and windy weather". According to the Irish meteorological service, Friday morning will start mostly cloudy with scattered showers in the east. A band of rain will then reach the west coast by afternoon, with brighter conditions throughout the middle of the country, as highest temperatures of 17 to 22 degrees are forecasted. Friday night then will be cloudy with outbreaks of rain turning persistent and locally heavy at times. Lowest temperatures will range from 8 to 11 degrees in Munster and Connacht, but will not fall below 12 to 15 degrees in Ulster and Leinster. It will be a cloudy start on Saturday morning with rain persisting in parts of Ulster and Leinster throughout the day, though sunny spells and showers will push into the south and west. This is as highest temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees are forecasted. That said, the Irish meteorological service added that it looks like wet and blustery conditions will extend from the south across the country on Saturday night with some heavy falls of rain at times. Lowest temperatures will range from 8 to 13 degrees generally as fresh and gusty southeasterly winds veer southwesterly later. However, winds may be stronger locally. Rain, heavy at times, will gradually clear northwards on Sunday morning, followed by sunny spells and a few showers in the afternoon. Highest temperatures of 15 to 20 degrees are forecasted, with conditions to be warmest in the east, with fresh to strong and gusty cyclonic variable winds becoming southerly and moderate during the afternoon. Wet and blustery conditions will then return on Sunday night clearing to showers from the south by morning. Conditions will remain mild with temperatures holding above 10 to 15 degrees generally in moderate to fresh and gusty east to southeast winds.
