Could You Give Up Your Clothes For Good?

Brands-for-less retailer TK Maxx has this week launched the latest Give Up Clothes For Good campaign, Ireland’s biggest and longest running clothes and homewares donation collection. Developed by TK Maxx, the Give Up Clothes For Good campaign helps raise much needed funds for Enable Ireland which offers support services for children and young people with disabilities. 

Stylist and blogger Pippa O'Connor was joined at the launch of Give Up Clothes For Good by seven year old Ava McHugh, from Tallaght, in Dublin, who features in the latest in store point of sale and advertising materials. Ava, who has Spastic Diplegia Cerebral Palsy, is just one of many children who that depend on Enable Ireland for much needed support including physiotherapy.

Since 1997, TK Maxx Give Up Clothes For Good has raised €1.6m for Enable Ireland, helping to provide in centre and community based services to over 4,500 children and their families in local communities in 14 counties. The campaign asks the public to donate their unwanted clothes, accessories and quality homeware in the special bins provided in TK Maxx stores nationwide all year round. Donated items will be sold in Enable Ireland shops and money raised by the sale of these items will help to fund Enable Ireland services with children and their families including clinical assessment, therapy, education, training, residential, respite and family support services. In the month of March 2015 alone, TK Maxx customers and employees helped collect over 3000 bags of donations.

Commenting on the partnership, TK Maxx Irish Retail Director Natalie Sammon said; “The Give Up Clothes For Good campaign goes from strength to strength each year. The publics’ generosity over the years has never waned, and I’d like to personally thank each and every one of them for their continued support. We hope to continue breaking records in 2015, and together help Enable Ireland continue its incredible work with children around the country.”

Customers can donate in store using any bag they like, from carrier bags to bin bags. TK Maxx can accept clean clothing, shoes and accessories, ornaments, towels and linen, crockery, cutlery and glassware, books, collectables and antiques, CDs, DVDs and mobile phones.
