Android phone users are being warned about apps that are being used to drain battery life.
Up to 85 different apps have been branded as "fraudulent" by Google Play Store, with the majority of them being either photo editing apps or games.
According to Trend Micro, the apps have been downloaded more than eight million times.
Google Play Store has noted that while they have deleted the apps, known as 'adware', from its software, they could still be downloaded to your phone.
Trend Micro's Ecular Xu said: "It isn't your run-of-the-mill adware family.
"If the app has determined that it has been installed for more than 30 minutes, the app will then hide its icon and create a shortcut on the device's home screen.
"This would deter the app from being uninstalled by dragging and dropping its icon to the Uninstall section of the screen."
This means that while you might delete the app from your phone, it will still be running in the background. You will have to go into your settings to fully delete it.
