According to developer Andrew Wiik, Apple's new iOS 10 has "dark mode" capabilities which could have huge implications for future iPhones.
As its name implies, "dark mode" allows users to make the default background colour on all programmes black, which helps save battery in a very simple and almost invisible way by not relying on lots of white light for everything.
This could also mean Apple's long-rumoured switch from LCD screens to OLED screens could finally be happening for the iPhone 7. OLED screens display a richer contrast between black and white, making them perfect for a power-saving phone with a black screen. The company have already introduced a dark mode setting for Apple TV.
