The actress was the favourite to play Celia St. James in the Evelyn Hugo adaption on Netflix.
However, she has shut down rumours that she's involved in the highly-anticipated movie.
She told E! News that there is "zero possibility" she will play the lead role.
She told the publication, "I love how excited the fans are. When I was working on Broadway, every single day, they'd be outside, when I was signing, with the books. I just love how wonderful that fan base is."
"I look forward to watching it and I'm sorry to disappoint everyone out there!" she added.
Fans are eager to see the adaption following the major success of Daisy Jones and The Six.
The phenomenal book will be adapted for the screen by director Leslye Headland. Headland’s previous work includes Russian Doll, Sleeping with Other People, and Bachelorette.
The script will be penned by Liz Tigelaar who has previously worked on Tiny Beautiful Things and Little Fires Everywhere.
The New York Times best-seller is one of the author's strongest novels.
Aging and reclusive Hollywood movie icon Evelyn Hugo is finally ready to tell the truth about her glamorous and scandalous life. She picks magazine reporter Monique Grant to pen her biography but as the pair work together, Monique realises they share a shocking connection.
Her husband has left her, and her professional life is going nowhere. Monique listens in fascination as the actress tells her story. From making her way to Los Angeles in the 1950s to her decision to leave show business in the ’80s. And, of course, the seven husbands along the way.
Evelyn tells her about her forbidden love, failed marriages, and life in Hollywood. As Evelyn’s story nears its end, it becomes clear that her life intersects with Monique’s own in irreversible ways.
